Home Membership Become a Member

Membership in the World Blind Union (WBU) is open to all countries globally that are recognized as independent states by the United Nations.

Organizations wishing to join the WBU are required to complete the application form and submit it to our office. Applications should include a detailed description of the organization, a copy of its constitution and incorporation documents, and any other pertinent background information. Submissions can be made via email to info@wbu.ngo.

Application Process

All applications must be submitted through the regional president to the Secretary-General.

The Secretary-General forwards the applications to the Executive Committee for approval.

In countries with an existing national member, applications for national membership must receive approval from the current national member, which agrees to share membership and delegate responsibilities with the new applicant.

Applications for associate membership should also be directed through the regional president to the Secretary-General.

The President, with prior approval from the concerned national member, must approve these applications before they are submitted to the Executive Committee for final approval.
