On September 5, 2025, the newly elected Table Officers of the World Blind Union (WBU) began their term, bringing a renewed commitment to collective leadership, collaboration and advancing the rights and priorities of blind and partially sighted people around the world.
As we mark the first anniversary of their term, we are taking a moment to reflect on the progress made over the past year and the work underway to strengthen WBU as a global organization.
We asked members of the WBU Table Officers to share their reflections on the past year, including the changes they have seen, the achievements they are most proud of, and the progress made since they took office.

Looking Ahead
The first year of a leadership term is an important opportunity to take stock of what has been accomplished while looking ahead to the work that remains.
Over the past year, WBU has continued to strengthen its organizational development, advance the implementation of its Strategic Plan, promote financial sustainability, and raise the visibility of the global blind and partially sighted community in international forums.
These achievements are the result of the collective efforts of WBU’s members, regions, committees, staff and leadership.
As the Table Officers begin their second year in office, WBU remains committed to working together with its members and partners to advance the rights, inclusion and empowerment of blind and partially sighted people worldwide.
